I felt great pride watching Loretta Lynch on her first day of Senate Confirmation Hearings for the United States Attorney General position. Her statements and responses to questions from the Republican led Senate Judiciary Committee were so professional and measured that the political vultures could not easily attack her. Yes, they tried to chew her out about things they disliked about our current Attorney General, Eric Holder, and Mrs. Lynch finally said “I’m not Eric Holder”. Some people still cannot tell us apart!
Her father sat just behind her, and Ms. Lynch made sure the committee knew he was a fourth generation Baptist Minister and her mother is a retired librarian. In my mind I believe she was letting her detractors know that she came from a long line of intelligent and competent people.
A huge red and cream contingent of Loretta Lynch’s Delta Sigma Theta Sorority sisters filled a big section of the hearing room. The sorority sisters created a silent but unforgettable presence that everyone noticed.
We all need to support this very qualified candidate’s nomination for Attorney General.
