The USA has always fantasized that it is the “Land Of Milk And Honey”. When the nation was born only “successful” people were involved in its creation and its Constitution.

Wealth has always been equated with goodness in our materialistic nation and the poor are usually ignored or they are the targets of punishment. Poverty is the parent of most homelessness. Almost all homelessness is a by-product of economic events beyond the control of the individual.

We define a successful business person as one who becomes rich. The people who work in that business may be poor and mistreated, but the person enjoying gross profits is still said to be successful. That is a reflection of the amoral nature of capitalism.

Social and spiritual values in much of the USA have historically been infected with this love of successful predatory Greed.

Example: If Donald Trump had no money who would even know that he existed? How many would travel far and wide to hear him speak? How quickly would he be prosecuted for his scams, theft of services, perjury, and now treason?

Colonialism, Slavery, Extermination of the Native American nations, and the mistreatment of unpopular ethnic minorities and women are continuing issues in the USA because successful Greedy people continue to run this country.

Like most nations, we have not learned to resist the seduction of Greed and we are a cursed as long as we remain a nation controlled by people who are Our Brothers’ Abusers.

I am a former teacher, marketing representative, labor negotiator and small business owner. As a black man born and raised in New York City I learned how to survive in the "neighborhood" and in business. Hearing about and witnessing the trials, tribulations, hopes and fears of my extended family and the people in their lives helped mold my life. Helping others with their own life journeys is my goal.
